Lab Research Supervisor / Manager

Helen Hansen manages the lab and biorepository for the UCSF Neuroepidemiology Laboratory, coordinating and executing epidemiological studies of glioma and pancreatic cancer.  Our current projects focus on longitudinal studies of methylation derived immune profiles, utilizing archival specimens and contemporary material for highly multiplexed epigenetic profiling.  Additional studies characterize extracellular vesicles using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Tunable Resistive Pulse Sensing (TRPS) in these same, and newly acquired specimens.  Past projects have included Genome Wide Association (GWAS), low density genotyping, sequencing, and expression studies of human cancers including glioma, pancreatic cancer, leukemia, meningioma, and lung cancer.
